Online Dating Safety Awareness and Tips

Messaging Your Match

When talking to anyone you don’t know, always watch for red flags. Seeing multiple red flags may indicate that someone has bad intentions.

Profile Verification:

  • Every Ark profile must be verified. Check for a pink badge under the user’s profile name. If a profile is not verified, report it immediately.

Review Profiles Carefully:

  • Pay attention to details like age, location, photos, and bio prompts. Look for inconsistencies or anything that violates our Community Standards.

Flag Suspicious Messages:

  • If someone sends a concerning message, flag it by long-pressing the message and selecting Flag Message. You’ll be asked if you want to send a copy to a moderator—confirm by selecting Flag Message again.

Protect Your Personal Information:

  • Never share sensitive details like:
    • Your last name
    • Your mother’s maiden name
    • Your first pet’s name
    • Your home address
    • Your date of birth
    • Any banking information

Beware of Scammers:

  • If anyone asks for money, gift cards, or any financial favor, please report them immediately.

Caution with External Platforms:

  • If someone pressures you to continue the conversation outside Ark, be careful—this is often done to avoid moderation.

Meeting Up With Your Match

If you decide to meet someone in person, prioritize safety. Regardless of gender or how well you think you know them, these steps can help keep your dating experience secure and enjoyable:

  • Meet in a public place.
  • Have your own transportation. Don’t rely on the other person for a ride.
  • Keep your phone charged.
  • Let a friend or family member know where you’ll be.
  • Trust your instincts and stay aware of your surroundings.
